βWhat gives you a kick when you conduct a workshop?β Someone asked me recently. No doubt, organizing a conference or workshop garners much praise for the venue, the academic content, the food, the stay, and the faculties. After an event, the WhatsApp group gets flooded with messages appreciating one or many of these features. Sometimes, even the host gets a pat on the back, even if it wasnβt that great. π
For me, the real thrill comes from the βimpactβ of the workshop. At our first Iris Claw Lens workshop in 2018, nearly 40 eye surgeons participated and acquired the surgical skill set of Iris Claw Lens implantation. All of them perform this surgery regularly now.
This time, we had 58 attendees from Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, UP, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, NCR, and beyond. We received high praise for our seriousness towards their learning. The sessions were houseful, and no soul moved during the live surgeries and discussions. They especially appreciated the wetlab.
When attendees thanked us, we shared our desire to see their post-op pictures of patients who underwent Iris Claw Lens surgery. For us, those are the best form of compliments. We will be tracking all our trainees and hope they make us proud, just like last time.
A big shoutout to Team LJ Eye Institute, especially Dr. Urvish Vashist, Dr. Neha Jain, Dr Ruchi Mittal, and the members of the Ambala Ophthalmological Society. And my deepest gratitute to the real masters for the workshop, Dr. Ravijit Singh Singh and Dr. Kiranjit Singh. This couldnβt have been possible without your commitment & dedication.
LJ Eye Instituteβs 7th anniversary celebrations made this event even more special.
Academics are very important to us. In the past weβve conducted workshops on Trabeculectomy, Glaucoma drainage devices, Endothelial Keratoplasty, Contact Lenses and more, and will continue to do so. Please do suggest topics for our future workshops. Letβs continue learning and growing together!
