How do you feel when the 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 begins — and you’re standing on stage, singing it together at the close of an inauguration?
For me, it was a moment of stillness.
Of gratitude.
And yes… a quiet sense of pride 🇮🇳
Because this wasn’t just another conference.
This was 𝐊𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 — the annual meeting of the #CorneaSocietyofIndia (CSI).
A society barely 13–14 years old, yet already grown nearly ten-fold into one of the largest niche cornea societies in the world. As the 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐒𝐈, I had the privilege of being the MC for the inauguration.
But what stayed with me had nothing to do with the stage, the lights, or the applause.
It was the spirit in the room.
Keracon has never been about “a few speak, the rest listen.”
It’s about learning with each other — seniors & juniors, fellows & faculty, private practitioners and academicians.
That humility to share, that openness to learn, is what truly defines CSI.
One of the strongest reflections of this philosophy is the 𝐂𝐒𝐈 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 — something we’re deeply proud of. These aren’t just wet labs.
They’re structured learning journeys:
🧭 4–6 online teaching sessions with seasoned mentors
🧭 guidance from trained coordinators who know the surgery inside out
🧭 followed by an on-site wet lab with true 1-on-1 hand-holding
This year in Goa, we saw our 𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕-𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒃𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, the 𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒈𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, and nearly 𝟏𝟓𝟎 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐬 across 𝟖 𝐂𝐒𝐈 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬.
And over the last 2 years, Keracon has quietly redefined how conferences can work — by becoming a 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠.
3 screens. 1 large hall.
Every delegate with a headset, choosing the session that matters most to them.
Here, the audience is truly king.
Attention isn’t automatic — it’s earned.
Through clarity, relevance, humility, & real value.
The feedback, year on year, remains unchanged:
⭐ “This feels different.”
⭐ “This feels genuine.”
⭐ “This feels like someone truly wants me to grow.”
And when colleagues from the US, Europe, Japan, & across Asia say they’re impressed — not just by the science, but by the intent — it means something.
At its core, I believe CSI has grown for very simple reasons:
👉 A sincere desire to uplift the next generation
👉 Knowledge that is shared, not guarded
👉 And egos that are left outside the door
As the National Anthem played that evening,
I wasn’t thinking of titles.
I was simply grateful —
to belong to a society young in years, but rich in heart ❤️
and to stand beside colleagues who believe in learning, sharing, and serving — together.
𝐊𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓. 𝐆𝐨𝐚.
A conference, yes.
But more than that — a 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒇𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆 of knowledge.
