LIMBAL STEM CELL TRANSPLANTATION

LIMBAL STEM CELL TRANSPLANTATION

LSCT / CLET / SLET / CLAG

Limbal epithelial stem cells are responsible for corneal regeneration. Deficiency in limbal stem cells may develop due to trauma (Acid or Alkali injury), immunologic or genetic disease that affects the ocular surface, e.g. Stevens Johnson Syndrome etc. It may lead to corneal vascularisation, opacification and conjunctivalization with gradual loss of vision. Transplantation of donor limbal stem cells makes it possible to regenerate the deficient stem cells in the diseased eye. This highly specialized procedure is
being done at LJ Eye Institute, regularly.
