Lasik Laser

Painless / Without Stitches Cataract Surgery

What is LASIK LASER and why we need it?

LASIK is a surgical procedure that uses a laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. In LASIK, a thin flap in the cornea is created using either a microkeratome blade or a femtosecond laser. The surgeon folds back the flap, then removes some corneal tissue underneath using an excimer laser. The flap is then laid back in place, covering the area where the corneal tissue was removed.

eligibility for lasik laser

Am I eligible for Lasik Laser Surgery?

There will be proper assessment of your eyes through certain investigations like corneal topography which will decide your eligibility for the Lasik Laser procedure.

If you are not a candidate for LASIK, you may qualify for another laser eye surgery such as PRK (similar to LASIK but without the flap), LASEK, or epi-LASIK. There are also non-laser vision correction procedures. Your prescription and eye structure will be considered to help determine which procedure is best for you.

LASIK LASER - ADVANTAGES

  • A high success rate. This surgery is proven to correct vision and post-surgical enhancements can further improve vision (if needed).
  • There is very little pain involved with the procedure. The surgeon will use numbing drops to alleviate any discomfort too.
  • Your vision is corrected almost immediately or by the day after
  • You do not have to wear awkward bandages and there are no stitches.
  • Adjustments can be made to correct any vision changes due to aging and often, at no cost to you.
  • You may be able to eliminate the need for eyeglasses or contacts completely or reduce your vision correction prescription dramatically.

LASIK LASER - MYTHS

  • Any changes made to your cornea are permanent; therefore, errors cannot be reversed. This is why it is important to use a skilled laser eye surgeon.
  • In very rare cases, a patient may have a permanent loss of their “best” vision, which means they could still require eyeglasses post-surgery.
  • Not everyone qualifies for this procedure.
