Oculoplasty Treatment In Ambala

What is Oculoplastic Surgery?

Oculoplastic Surgery is plastic surgery isolated to the areas around the eyes. eyelids. Orbit (bones behind the eye) and lacrimal (tear drainage) system. An oculoplastic surgeon is an ophthalmologist who performs cosmetic and reconstructive procedures on the eyelids. orbit (bores and anatomic structures behind the eyeball )and lacrimal (tear drain) system. The field oculoplastic surgery combines the precision and microsurgery of ophthalmology with the aesthetic and reconstructive concepts of plastic surgery. Oculoplastic surgery is a highly selective subspeciality of ophthalmology.

Ptosis Treatment in Ambala

Droopy eyelid (ptosis) can occur as a result of birth defect, injury, muscle disorder, nerve disorder, or simply due to aging. It gives a sleepy appearance, and can even obstruct vision if severe. Ptosis may also cause excessive forehead wrinkling, abnormal head posture such as chin elevation. and eye fatigue. In children below 8 years of age, severe droop might obstruct development of vision leading to a lazy (amblyopic) eye thus reducing vision. In adults, droopy eyelid is mainly a cosmetic concern. Surgery can correct this problem by repairing the muscle that lifts the eyelid.

Several surgical options are available, and the type of surgery used depends upon the severity of the droop. When the eyelid droop is mild, a simple lift of the tissues is performed from the back of the eyelid (Mullerectomy). Moderate droop requires tightening of the muscle that lifts the eyelid (levator. In severe droop, the eyelid has to be connected to the eyebrow muscle (frontalis) to effect eyelid lift.

What is Dacryology?

This branch of science deals with problems related to lacrimal system. Watery eyes in children or adults can be due to blockade in lacrimal system from punctum, canalicus to nasolacrimal duct. Punctal stenosis is managed withlatest technique of punctal dilatation and monocanalicular intubation.

We provide an excellent approach to nasolacrimal duct obstruction in children with syringing and probing along with nasal endoscopy. Endoscopy offers an added advantage of treating the issue in nasal cavity. Nasolacrimal duct blockade in adults is addressed by creating a bypass into nasal cavity.

DCR or Dacryocystorh is a surgical procedure that creates an alternate new pathway for the drainage of tears between the tear sac and the nose by removing an intervening piece of bone. This is commonly performed for irreversible tar duct obstruction at its distal end within the nose.

Socket & Orbito-facial Prosthesis

The loss of an eye (due to tumor or injury) can be socially devastating to any person. Despite advances in technology, vision loss is sometimes inevitable. But certainly, We can bring back the normal appearance of the face and eyes.

This field of ophthalmic plastic surgery is developing into a highly specialized area, called Anophthalmia, Socket and Orbitofacial prosthesis. This art and science of restoring the normal appearance involves specialized surgeries and prosthesis making.

While the vision loss is irreversible, we can certainly bring back the normal appearance of the patient’s face and eyes. It is made from the highest medical grade of polymer materials. At LJ Eye Institute, we provide the best ocular prosthesis, also termed as ‘custom’ ocular prosthesis. This involves making an impression of your exact socket size, and preparing and painting an artificial eye that is meant’just for you’. This is much more precise, and problem free, compared to simply picking up a standard sized plastic eye from a box (stock eye), and guessing the best fit.

Blepharoplasty is the plastic surgery operation for correcting defects, deformities, and disfigurations of the eyelids; and for aesthetically modifying the eye region of the face. A blepharoplasty procedure usually is performed through external surgical incisions made along the natural skin lines (creases) of the upper and the lower eyelids, which creases then hide the surgical scars from view, especially when effected in the skin creases below the eyelashes of the lower eyelid. According to the technique applied by the plastic surgeon, the incisions can be made from the conjunctiva, the interior surface of the lower eyelid, as in the case of a transconjunctival blepharoplasty.

Thyroid Eye Disease

Thyroid disorders have a significant impact on eyes which is given a collective term known as thyroid eye disease(TED), Clinical symptoms found in TED are eyelid swelling, eyelid retraction, proptosis (protruding eyes), eye muscle restriction, corneal staining and decreased visual acuity. Disease has an active phase lasting around 6 to 18 months followed by a stable phase thereafter. Treatment of active phase include corticosteroids either by oral or l.V route along with lubricants. Orbital decompression is required in active phase if vision drops down i.e development of optic neuropathy.

Ophthalmic Oncology

Ophthalmic Oncology is the branch of cancer which deals with tumors arising from eye and adnexa. Ocular tumors are unique among the diseases of the eye, threatening both sight and life. Eye neoplasms can affect all parts of the eye. and can be a benign tumor like dermoid cysts, or a malignant tumor (cancer) like retinoblasioma. lymphoma. Aggressive eyelid tumors in end stage requires removal of eye and chemo-radiotherapy. Eyelid reconstruction procedures are needed to restore the normal eyelid anatomy.

Neoplasms of the orbit in adults may be primary tumors, secondary adjacent structures, or metastatic tumors. A computed tomography radiographic modality employed to investigate suspicious lesions.
