Retina Fellowship 2025-2026

Mentor: Dr. Ruchi Mittal

Mastering the skills of using slit lamp biomicroscopy which includes use of contact and non-contact fundus lenses. Mastering the skills of using indirect ophthalmoscopy Diagnosis of various medical and surgical retina conditions under supervision of retina specialist.

Diagnosis of uveitis and uvea emergencies under supervision of Retina & Uvea specialist. Interpretation of fundus fluorescein angiography(FFA), Indocyanine green angiography(ICG), Optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCTA, ultrasonography(USG) and electrodiagnostic modalities.

Hands on experience in performing FFA, ICG,OCT, USG and electrodiagnostic modalities. Screening babies for retinopathy of prematurity. Hands on experience in performing laser photocoagulation for various posterior segment diseases. Hands on experience in delivering intravitreal injections for various posterior segment pathologies.

The course duration is 6-9 months. One candidate will be selected per session.

    ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH

    1. Regular scheduled participations in fellow classes (Case presentations, journal clubs, theory discussion) and optometry classes.
    2. Two case reports/ small retrospective study and one large retrospective study/ prospective study are mandatory.
    3. Active participation in various CMEs/ workshops/ wet-labs organized at LJEI

    No, LJEI does not charge any fees. Eligible candidates may receive a monthly stipend.
    Q6: Will I receive training on advanced retinal technologies?

    Absolutely. Training includes OCT, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), B-scan ultrasonography, OCT-A, and retinal lasers.

    Applicants must have completed MS/MD/DNB in Ophthalmology from a recognized institution.

    Q8: Will I be involved in academic or research activities?
